The Investigation of Apparent Suicide - The Rising Number of Teen Suicides: Why are our Children Killing Themselves?

Description

Any death investigation is very complex and we cannot and must not enter a death scene assuming that we know the cause of death without a proper and thorough investigation. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among persons under the age of 18.

The suicide rate among teens has risen 52% in the last 20 years. What has caused this increase?

  • Risk factors for teens will be discussed, along with other factors often overlooked by investigators.
  • A case study involving the “perfect storm” of factors that ended in the suicide of a 26-year-old will be discussed.
