Video Technology in Law Enforcement

Description

Video surveillance is used in almost every investigation. This course is designed for Patrol Officers and Investigators. Almost everything we do is now being recorded from businesses, homes, cell phones, and other recorders.  Students will first learn about video surveillance technology and how we perceive the recorded image. Students will learn the best practices in properly obtaining video surveillance from various types of video surveillance recorders to obtain the best quality videos. Proper handling of Digital Multimedia Evidence will be discussed which will increase the likely hood of court admissibility in criminal cases.  Forensic Video Enhancement software will be discussed that can be used to clarify videos and images. This will include hands-on training using 10 different DVR and NVR systems to extract video files.

*Students will need a laptop (no iPad)

This two-part webinar will address the essential elements of effective writing, followed by tips and techniques for finding and writing grants. While each is designed to be standalone, taking the essentials of effective writing is a valuable precursor to the grant writing webinar. The two sessions are beneficial for law enforcement officers and associated administrative or support staff. You will improve and expand your skills in writing and researching, with an emphasis on grants.
