Diversity in Policing: Multiculturalism and Disparity

Especially today, there is a lot of confusion and disparity law enforcement officers and police administrators face in keeping society safe. More times than not, there is a mass amount of negativity towards law enforcement and an uncertainty facing the future of policing. This training event is designed to offer an understanding amongst different policing styles in order to help police departments determine which is the best style for their community. This course also offers discussions on cultural awareness in understanding biases, attitudes, and cultural stereotypes. What is the best way to manage vast crowds and groups? What is contagion and its cause and effects?  

This course will then shift in a focus on multicultural policing.  Officers and administration will learn the different policing view points, and should all policing be the same? The class will gain an understanding of diverse policing. We will then begin to close the class on understanding the future of policing. What are the benefits and barriers of a culturally diverse law enforcement agency? Should policing integrate? Why or why not? We will then close with a discussion focusing on color-blindness, multiculturalism and leadership roles.  

Within this course, there will many case study examples focusing on current trends, statistics and data.
