Understand and apply the principles of plain language.
Understand and apply the principles of simplification through actual examples and practice.
By the end of this session attendees will be better positioned to:
Identify and write to the “right” audience, including creating a purpose statement and identifying the “right” audience.
Understand and apply the principles of BLUF in e mails, memos, reports, and so forth.
Identify and apply the “Cs” of effective communications (being clear, concise, complete, considerate, current, compliant,
and so forth).
Apply the principles of writing using plain language (active voice, first/second person, ease of reading, and so forth).
Use the principles of simplification, along with readability, to write audience-focused, reader-appropriate documents.
