One of the most prevalent property crimes we see nationwide is the burglary. Statistics show that less than 15% of the reported burglaries result in arrests and on many of these cases, the offender will plea bargain the charges down to a lesser offense.
In order to have cases that can be prosecuted successfully, we must ensure that the burglary investigation is handled professionally and thoroughly from the time it is reported until the culmination of the investigation.
Successful investigation is the product of a good crime scene investigation, informative interviews, proper follow up and thorough and complete documentation of the facts. Any area that is lacking during the investigation reduces the chances of a successful prosecution.
