STAIR Suicide Intervention: Suicidality Training for Law Enforcement and Related Professionals

Description

This training workshop was established for professionals whose work involves interacting with people who present with significant suicidality.  Training concepts are drawn from current scholarly literature and empirically supported best practices from police crisis negotiation and suicidality contexts.

Participants thoroughly explore suicidality and the IMV model of suicidal behaviors.  New knowledge and skills are applied in relevant discussions, activities, and scenarios.  

At the end of this class students will be able to: 

  • Understand the five stages of the STAIR model.
  • Recognize the multifactorial considerations of suicide through the Integrated Motivational Volitional model of suicidal behavior.
  • Demonstrate their application of STAIR principles when engaging with persons in suicidal crisis.
  • Participants will adopt greater confidence in their interactions with those endorsing significant suicidality.

To qualify to take Phase III Hostage Negotiations Certification you must have completed Phase I & II Hostage Negotiations through Public Agency Training Council. No other hostage training courses will qualify an individual / team qualify to take Phase III.

The LSAT 12- hour basic training webinar is presented in 4, three-hour blocks over two days. The class will start at 10:00a.m. EST and end at 5:00p.m. EST each day. You will get a 1-hour lunch break each day.
