COURSE DESCRIPTION AND AGENDA (CLICK HERE)

This course will focus on killers and their victims. Discussions will include who killers are, their motivations to kill, what weapons they utilize to kill, and what they do with their victims’ remains. Differences between expressive killings and instrumental killings will be provided as well as an overview of the FBI’s determinations of organized and disorganized killers. A brief discussion about serial killers and non-serial killers will be included. Additionally, discussions about modus operandi (MO) and signature traits will be shared. Geoprofiling, as it relates to identifying a killers’ home base and where victims’ remains may be found will be shared. Students will learn the concepts of criminal profiling, to narrow persons of interest as well as the concepts of victimology and femicide. Similarities and differences between black male killers and white male killers will also be shared. Real world cases will be utilized for discussion purposes as well as for students to practice newly learned concepts.

Investigative and forensic suggestions will be discussed based upon real world case studies.

Detailed comparisons of black male killers and white male killers will also be shared.
