Description
COURSE DESCRIPTION AND AGENDA (CLICK HERE)
Beyond the Stop: From Interdiction to Transnational Investigation is a comprehensive two-day training course designed to bridge the gap between traditional criminal interdiction and complex federal investigations. While many interdiction courses focus primarily on identifying criminal
activity during traffic stops and conducting enforcement actions, this course takes participants beyond the initial encounter. Students will learn how routine traffic stops, criminal arrests, and contraband seizures can serve as the foundation for broader investigations involving narcotics trafficking, money laundering, human smuggling, and transnational organized crime. The course
emphasizes recognizing investigative opportunities, developing actionable intelligence, identifying criminal networks, and understanding the federal investigative process.
Through real-world investigative examples, case studies, and interactive exercises, participants will gain practical knowledge of how to transition street-level enforcement encounters into comprehensive criminal investigations targeting larger criminal organizations. Instruction will cover federal investigative authorities, criminal intelligence development, investigative
techniques, evidence preservation, interagency collaboration, and federal prosecution considerations. Particular emphasis will be placed on strengthening relationships between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and maximizing the investigative value of initial enforcement encounters. By the conclusion of the course, participants will understand how to move beyond individual arrests and seizures to develop investigative strategies that identify and disrupt broader criminal enterprises.
