Designed for patrol officers, detectives, supervisors, medical examiners, investigators, and forensic technicians, this course focuses on what you need to know when responding to and managing a death scene.
Topics include wound identification, shooting and ballistic reconstruction, autopsy findings, defensive injuries, and victimology. Students will explore behavioral analysis, including organized vs. disorganized offenders, modus operandi, ritual behaviors, and how tools like the FBI’s VICAP database can assist investigations.
The course also covers practical interview strategies, deception indicators, and effective theme development. Modern forensic tools are discussed, including DNA collection and preservation, CODIS, digital evidence handling, cell phone considerations, and proper preservation of social media evidence for court.
Attendees leave with practical tools, reference materials, and greater confidence in handling complex homicide and death investigations.
