Improvised Explosive Device Recognition and Awareness Training for Law Enforcement

Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND AGENDA (CLICK HERE)

Today, the challenges that our Law Enforcement officers face are unique and complex. The criminal element remains evasive and devious in an increasingly complex operating environment that is constantly changing. The use of explosives in criminal and terrorists’ activity both domestically and internationally has increased significantly over the past few years. The Improvised Explosive Device continues to be the weapon of choice for radical terrorist all over the world including the rising trend for domestic terrorist. Research and studies have determined that the terrorist emplacing the IED will display visible indicators that an attack will be forthcoming that are detectable through the trained observer. With proper training, the law enforcement officer could potentially detect and mitigate the attack before it occurs. This method of proactive approach for IED detection can be a life saver for both the officers and the civilians. If an attack or threat does occur, the Police, Fire, and EMS first responders will be the first officers arriving at the scene, and often without EOD trained personnel and Tactical support for several hours. The IED Recognition and Awareness course is designed to provide the first responder with the tools, knowledge and capabilities to recognize the threat before it occurs and properly

react to and stabilize an incident involving an improvised explosive device or suspect device until qualified technical support arrives on scene.
