This is a 2.5-day (20 hr) class; therefore, the first two days of class will be from 8:00am-4:00pm.  The last day of class will be from 8:00am to 12:00pm.

Statement of Fact: There are two important aspects in an interviewing process. The first aspect is it pertains to human functionality in communication. Secondly is disclosure of truthful information surrounding sensitive behavior of a human being. Moreover, interviews are complex interactions that go beyond simple question-and-answer exchanges. Viewing them as developmental journeys helps interviewers appreciate the value of dialogue in seeking full disclosure of sensitive information.

Overview: This course of instruction is designed to create an understanding of human behavior by the interviewer of the interviewee through the application of effective, ethical, and purposeful speech in the interview process. To accomplish this, a diphasic approach will be utilized. The initial focus will be an academic approach to understanding human behavior to establish the proper understanding of the functionality of human beings in given contexts. The academic approach will serve as a segue to the methodical approach to human behavior. Through the methodical approach, students will be provided with an interviewing strategy that is consistent with the United States criminal justice system and designed to provide full disclosure of sensitive information.
