Cryptocurrency and the Dark Web Investigations

Description

This two-day course equips investigators with the critical skills needed to understand and investigate the intersection of cryptocurrency and dark web activity. Criminals often exploit the anonymity of cryptocurrency transactions and hidden dark web networks to traffic drugs, weapons, stolen data, and other illicit goods. This training provides practical strategies to uncover, track, and disrupt those activities.

Through a combination of lecture, real-world case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to:

  • Understand the role of cryptocurrency in criminal enterprises

  • Trace and analyze transactions on blockchain ledgers using OSINT and analytic tools

  • Safely navigate dark web markets, forums, and communication channels

  • Identify and link digital footprints across usernames, wallets, IP addresses, and online activity

  • Apply best practices for digital evidence collection, documentation, and integration into broader investigations

This program is designed for law enforcement officers, analysts, and investigators seeking to expand their ability to follow digital trails, strengthen cases, and counter crime in today’s evolving cyber landscape.
