Investigating and Tracking Cyber Predators

Please be aware that this class is a 16-hour training. Therefore, the training will be 8am-5pm local time each day.

This is an intense course that provides practical knowledge and skills to investigate and successfully prosecute cyber predators. This course is packed with case studies and examples. This is a hands-on course, and it is recommended that participants bring a PC-based laptop, although it is not mandatory.  This course is a great opportunity to bring those challenging digital cases and receive assistance.

Upon Completion: 

Participants will be able to

  1. Understand and define the basic terms related to investigating cyber predators and crimes.  
  2. Understand and explain IP addresses.
    1. Including dark web and virtual private networks (VPNs)
    2. Understand the role of cryptocurrency and dark web.
    3. Learn which data will secure digital evidence using OSINT.
  3. Understand the dark web and how it is connected to cyber crimes.
  4. Learn about statistics and how child abuse materials are connected to other crimes, including organized crime.
  5. Describe the links between social networking sites and the acceleration of cyber crimes.
  6. Understand how predators locate and groom victims.
  7. Understand the role of sextortion, online gaming platforms, social media, pig butchering, romance scams, fraud, etc.  
  8. Examine the market for cyber predators including different crimes.
  9. Employ specific techniques and evolving tactics for successful cyber investigations.
  10. Learn predator tools and how to intercept digital evidence.
    1. Learn the importance of securing metadata when intercepting evidence.
  11. Search and seizure protocols for social media, chat, and other platforms.  
    1. Seizing both electronic and physical evidence.
  12. Develop hands-on skills and gain assistance for those challenging cases.
  13. Gain access and hands-on skills with various OSINT tools to investigate and collect digital evidence:
    1. Cyrptocurrency
    2. Linkage Analysis
    3. Dark Web
