Course Description

Supervisors in today’s law enforcement environment face increasing challenges in balancing organizational expectations with the needs of their personnel. A critical component of effective leadership is the ability to create and maintain a professional, productive, and positive work environment.

While most employees contribute positively to the organization, some individuals—whether intentionally or unintentionally—can create a toxic work environment. Although the number of toxic employees is typically small, the impact they can have on morale, productivity, and organizational culture can be significant.

This course is designed to provide supervisors and leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to identify, understand, and effectively manage toxic employees. Students will explore the characteristics and behaviors associated with toxic personnel, examine how these individuals develop, and learn practical strategies to mitigate their impact on the agency.

Through discussion and real-world application, this course equips students with the skills needed to address toxic behavior, support organizational health, and foster a positive workplace culture.
