Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS)/drones are increasingly being utilized by hobbyist, commercial pilots and criminals.  Law enforcement officers are increasingly responding to suspicious activity involving drones.  sUASs are regulated and considered aircraft by the FAA.  However, law enforcement officers are increasingly answering these types of calls. Law enforcement officers must be able to discern the difference between legal and criminal sUAS flights and be armed with current legal knowledge pertaining to sUASs in order to appropriately respond to these types of calls. This two-day course will discuss the art of balancing the enforcement of state laws while understanding applicable federal regulations and case law. (16hrs)
