Advanced PREA Certification as Prerequisite to PREA Investigator Certification, investigators must complete PREA Certification Training. The objective of this course is to fully educate, and train officers and staff on the standards and purpose of PREA 2003. Revised in 2012, the PREA Standards serve as a guide to compliance to the Federal Law. Attendees for PREA Training will demonstrate an understanding of all applicable standards and requirements of PREA2003.
The Objective of the PREA Investigator Certification Training is to prepare the investigator for investigating cases in confinement settings. Each investigator will understand the purpose and intent of interviewing victims, witnesses, and alleged perpetrators in confinement settings. The attendee will also understand the importance of objective investigations, protecting individuals involving in the investigation, where and the usefulness of evidence in confinement settings as well as the barriers. Investigators will understand their responsibilities including documentation, follow-up, and follow-through, understanding the layout of the facility and accessing the available aids and resources for the investigations.
