Jeremy Thayer

Lieutenant Jeremy Thayer brings nearly 30 years of public safety and law enforcement experience, with an extensive background in use of force training, tactical operations, and criminal investigations. He currently serves as the supervisor of his agency's Investigations Unit and previously commanded a multi-jurisdictional major case task force responsible for investigating officer involved critical incidents.

Jeremy earned a master's degree from Michigan State University and a bachelor's from Benedictine University. He has completed advanced leadership and professional development programs through the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, the Force Science Institute, and the Southern Police Institute.

In addition to his law enforcement responsibilities, Jeremy serves on the Executive Board for the Illinois Homicide Investigators Association and works as adjunct university faculty teaching justice, law, and public safety studies. He resides in the Chicago suburbs with his wife and two daughters.
