In "Police Use of Force 101: Essential Knowledge and Tactics," officers will embark on a critical journey to master the fundamental principles and techniques of use of force. This foundational course is designed to provide law enforcement professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the legal, ethical, and practical aspects of force application. Through immersive lectures and real-world scenarios, participants will explore the key concepts of proportionality, necessity, and de-escalation.
The Use of Force is a necessity at times when dealing with violent offenders who seriously assault police officers early 80,000 times a year; killing about 70 officers annually.
This course presents:
· Legalities and case laws of use of force
· Cultivating a winning mindset to effectively resolve events
· Tactics and Techniques
· The 5 “C’s” of police work
· Avoiding the “lawful, but awful” incidents of force
· Defining the difference of response versus react
· Understanding how “unintentional” use of forces occur
· Essentials of Duty to Intervene
· De-escalation techniques and standards
Research has shown that officers who have a solid knowledge base, prepared for their duties, and are confident are more likely to make intelligent cognitive decisions in extreme stress.
